General Meeting Information
Tidewater Quilters' Guild meetings are held monthly in convenient locations on the south side. We also host several ongoing Zoom meetings ,open to all members, every moth. Please see the section below.
Most meetings include: Business meeting - to conduct TQG activities Program - A planned event that may include a speaker, slide presentation or a mini-workshop on a specific technique. Show & Tell - Members share their completed work, a work in progress or an item from their collection. At this time most chapters photograph the items and they are posted on the TQG Facebook page. Block of the Month - The Day, Night and Saturday Chapters participate in the this program. Patterns are downloadable through a guild wide email link and some chapters provide printed patterns. The completed blocks are returned at the next meeting. Names are placed in a drawing for the blocks. Techniques are varied as this is an educational opportunity for members. Library - The librarians bring a sampling of books to each meeting. Members may check out books from the library. See the librarian for details. Lucky Buck- some chapters have a Lucky Buck block. You pay $1 for a 10" square of fabric. Using some of you own fabric you make a 12.5" block of your choice and return it to the next meeting. Your will be placed in a drawing and you may win all the returned blocks. Free Table - Most chapters have a free table. You are welcome to bring quilt related fabrics, supplies and patterns to the table. All items left at the end of the meetings maybe donated or discarded. Misc. Activities - Different chapters also have various other short term and ongoing programs like mystery quilts, round robins, and pattern/magazine sales. Zoom - Need a link? Email [email protected] Tuesday - Sit and Sew on Zoom. 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The Monday Day Program is a hybrid meeting each month Modern Study Group Sit and Sew on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sometimes there are Quilt Along Challenges as well at that time. However, there is always sit and sew time as well. Modern Study Group meeting meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for education in the realm of Modern Quilting.
