Library
Library Challenge. There were no entries for 2021. Stay tuned for a new Challenge.
The TQG Library has about 500 books free to guild members. We want you to look through the books and find a quilt just for you.
Ask the Chapter Librarian at any meeting, or search here for books and DVDs. You may search by Title of the Book, by the Author, or (new!) by Subject number. Browse the Subject Headings list to find the number range, then browse the Subject list.
There are eight main subject categories:
1. General works and reference
2. Quilting - putting layers together
3. Quilt Tops - patterns
4. Quilt Tops - special themes or uses
5. Embellishment - folding, beading, dyeing, etc.
6. Other topics of interest
7. Design - color, composition, geometry, etc.
8. Collections - museum, exhibit, artist retrospectives
Categories one and three are huge - be patient: your book is probably in there!

Here is a reminder of Library rules:
Please try to return books to the correct library (Red books to the Red Library, and Blue books to Blue, and so on). If this isn't feasible, return them to the chapter you attend. Chapter librarians communicate regularly, and update records.
Books are checked out for TWO months at a time, and may be renewed on request. You can call or email your librarians or request renewal at the meeting. Note: if another member has requested the book, we may not be able to renew for you.
Only four books may be checked out by a member at a time.
A fine of $1 per book for each month overdue can be charged. Lost or damaged books must be replaced.
More than you wanted to know about your Library
The TQG Library is divided into Red and Blue and Yellow Libraries with the libraries rotating between the three chapters. A third collection, the Green Library, is not exchanged among the chapters. This collection includes older or fragile items, oversize items and DVDs. Titles can be browsed online or in the Librarian’s notebook, and anything can be checked out by request, allowing time to transfer the item to your chapter. There are nearly 500 books available to guild members for checking out.
Several months in the year, Library collections are not brought to meetings. The month before Inventory, normally the July meetings, librarians will collect returns, but don’t check books out. Day and Night chapters have December parties every year, and books aren’t brought. When any chapter is having a rummage sale, or sometimes if a speaker has a big trunk show or a large inventory of merchandise, the Librarian will be asked not to bring the collection.
At any meeting, if a Librarian is present, books can be returned.
