2018 TQGVA Raffle Quilt- "Honoring Grandma"
This year’s raffle quilt, in the grandmother’s flower garden pattern, is Honoring Grandma (Grandma for short). Grandma was donated to our Guild by the James Tanner family. It was pieced by his grandmother Nelly Hinsely Lawson from a gap near Elkton, Virginia. It is a vintage (and rescued) quilt. Betsy Kessler did some repairs and replaced three flowers with similar 30's reproduction fabrics. It was hand quilted from 2016 to 2018 by Betsy Kessler, Angela Cartwright, Paula Harr, Marie -Louise LaFond, Hiromi Brown, and Darlene Price. It is 102" x 108" (a large queen with corner cutouts for bedposts).
Tickets are $1 each. The drawing will be held at the night chapter meeting on November 12, 2018. Be sure to buy your tickets at a chapter meeting. You may also check-out tickets to sell to your friends and family.
Grandma was at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show. She will also be at the Francis Land House on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as the Virginia Beach Spring Craft Show April 13-15.
Proceeds from the raffle are one of the main financial supports for Guild activities....so buy generously!!
