Catherine Roberts, QOVs Founder, just emailed me this video from the Houston
Quilt Festival which opened today. This year's booth is better than last year's I'm sure. What a great opening with Mr. Chitwood singing in front of two U.S. Marines holding the colors. The quilts in the background are also beautiful.

Fabric requirements:                                    Cutting requirements:                            
1 ¼ yards dark fabric                                   Cut 60) 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" squares (using dark fabric)
1 yard light fabric                                       Cut 48) 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" squares (using light fabric)                    
1 yard for sashing strips                               Cut 31) 2 1/2" x 12 1/2" sashing strips
¼ yard for corner squares                             Cut 20) 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" corner squares
1 ¼ yards for border strips                           Cut 6) 6" x 42" border strips
3 ½ yards for backing
½ yard for binding

Assembly:
Make twelve 9-patch blocks using five dark squares and four light squares to make one 9-patch block that is 12 1/2” unfinished.

Use three 9-patch blocks across and four 9-patch blocks down, separated by the sashing strips and corner squares as shown above.

Sew on border strips to complete the quilt top.
