Again I am amazed by our members. We were having trouble finding a Day Chapter Coordinator until three busy people volunteered to run because between the three of them, one of them should be available to cover those duties each month. I’m down for the count because of a broken foot and other people are doing the things I should be doing. Board members are out of town and their jobs are taken over by other volunteers. It’s with a military precision but at the same time, it is even better. People are not just covering things because they are next in line; they are covering them because they think the jobs are important and need to be done.
When I think of our three chapters, I realize that they all are serving the same people but while they are all offering great programs, social interaction and skill education, each also supply different needs. Day Chapter is important to those who don’t drive at night but want to keep up their skills and be with their quilting friends. Night Chapter is important for those who work outside of the home during the day. Saturday Chapter is still evolving to fit the needs of those who attend. They started out as a time to sew and were especially appreciated by beginners who could sew along with experienced quilters. They had their questions answered and problems resolved on the spot. A series of programs were offered that went over the basics for all of us and continue to provide programs offered by those who attend this Chapter. All of the chapters are open to possibilities and continue to meet the needs of our members.
The rest of the year promises to be as busy as the first of the year. Spring Fling still brings a smile to my face and we still have our show in August as well as the AQS show in the Fall. I know the quilt show committee members appreciate your sending in your entries as soon as possible. They already have a number and can use more. I am very proud to be a part of this guild.
