Mancuso Challenge Update!

For personal reasons, Pam Traynham has had to resign from the lead on our submission to the Mancuso show in February 2017.   However, Jackie Gaskins has agreed to take over for Pam. We really appreciate her taking over this responsibility because it is important to the guild not only for our exposure to quilters in the area but for the great spot that we have to display our raffle quilt and to sell tickets.   If we did not display at the show we could be relegated to the outside lobby.  Thank you also to Diane Bennett for starting this tradition and giving us this opportunity to begin with.

Last year we have had a challenge as well as a display of our quilts.  This year we will display our quilts without the challenge.   If you would like to display a quilt, we need the following information:

1.  Size and dollar value of your submission needs to go to Jackie by November 15.   I know it is hard to know the size if you haven't even started the quilt yet, but please pick a size and then construct your quilt based on this size.  Mancuso needs to know this information now in order to calculate the space they will allocate to us.  As published earlier, the quilts must be larger then 18"x24".

2.  The Artist's statement of 50-100 words is due to Jackie by January 15.

3.  The Theme is "Reflections".   This is very broad and can be interpreted as you desire.  The statement submitted to Mancuso for the theme is "In reference to surfaces, it is throwing back light or heat. Literally, a it is bending back. It could mean a remark made after turning back one's thought on some subject.....or, it could be an identical world upside down when mirrored from the original. Careful thought, especially the process of reconsidering previous actions, events or decisions...as the quilter with every cut, stitch, layout, color or angle is reflective of previous experiences with fabric, light, color and conversations."

If you have already sent your submission to Pam, please forward a copy to Jackie along with any correspondence you have received regarding your submission. Looking forward to the display of all of our creative work!
