Guild Library Challenge

Back in March all three chapters began the Library Challenge!

The basic idea was to check out a Guild Library book, make something based on it, and then show the result with a brief talk about the book. Many, many books were checked out for this (great news for the library!) and the original August deadline is coming up!
The rules were these:
  • Minimum size = 1620 square inches. No maximum size. This could be done as a set, for example, a table runner and placemats could total the necessary area,.
  • Technique and method = anything that has a top, batting, quilting and binding is allowable.
  • Completion = yes. No incomplete or unfinished items.
  • Use of book = Use a pattern or be inspired by a story or illustration. Be prepared to tell something about how the book inspired your project, and about the book generally.
  • Prizes = yes. This will be by a drawing among all the items shown and declared as part of the Library Challenge. Show your item during Show-and-Tell, and make sure the chapter librarian got your name and the name of the book you used.
Because of the upcoming shows and deadlines, the board decided to extend the deadline for the Library Challenge to the December meetings! This means that you still have time to start and finish something for the challenge!
Be careful, though: August is still the due date for all the books already out, and your librarians would much rather check books out to you than call and email to get them returned! The annual book inventory requires all of them back in, at least for a time.
